Description:
Detailed large scale Cc.18th map of the coast of Guyana from the Oroonoko to the River of Amazons and inland parts as far as they have been explored by the French & Dutch engineers, with the islands of Barbadoes, Tobago by William Faden.
From Faden, W. General Atlas.
William Faden (1750 - 1836)
Faden was a cartographer and publisher who took over Thomas Jefferys's business in 1771 and held the position of Geographer to His Majesty the King and the Prince of Wales. Faden's work was of the highest standard and he was chosen to produce the very first map for the Ordnance Survey - a map of Kent in four sheets - in 1801.

Louis Stanislas d'Arcy de La Rochette (1731 - 1802)
Rochette was born in 1731, he married Margaret Scale and he was associated with William Faden who produced many of his maps. Little other biographical exists. His maps are all of a high quality and all include updated information at the time of their publications. Having a long association with Faden further enforces his high standing.
