Scarce c.19th hand coloured engraving of 2 Treasury Place, Melbourne.
Built in 1875-76, 2 Treasury Place was originally designed by Michael Egan, it had a third floor added to the east and west wings by Oakley and Parkes in 1933, and an extension to the north end of the west wing supervised by Percy Everett in 1949.

William Crothers Fitler (1857 - 1915)
Fitler was born in Philadelphia in 1857 and studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He was a tonalist landscape painter and most of his works depict views of New York, Connecticut, or Long Island. Fitler was a member of the Salmagundi Club, New York Watercolor Club, Brooklyn Art Association, Artists Fund Society, and New York Municipal Art Society. Fitler came to Australia with Fred B. Schell and W.T. Smedley to work on Australia's most ambitious and largest colonial publishing venture the, Picturesque Atlas of Australia. On his return to America he exhibited widely and was included in shows at the National Academy (1880-1907), Brooklyn Art Club (1881-1886), and Boston Art Club (1881-1908).
