Biography:

Samuel Charles Brees (1810-1865)

Painter, architect, engineer and entrepreneur. Appointed engineer and surveyor to the NZ co. in 1842. He actively promoted emigration to NZ through talks and his own business. These are the finest steel engravings printed in New Zealand.
