Biography:

Samuel Curtis (1779 – 1860)

In 1801, Curtis succeeded the ownership of Curtis’s Botanical Magazine originally founded by William Curtis. Despite Curtis selling his rights to the magazine in 1846, the publication kept the wellknown name and continued to produce excellent and beautifully engraved botanical series.
