Description:

Very rare, c.19th hand coloured engraving based on a photograph by Maryborough travelling photographer, Christopher Hume Moore, of Gympie when it was  known as Nashville.

The town was named after James Nash who reported the discovery of ‘payable’ alluvial gold on 16 October 1867. The large building on the left is the Melbourn Hotel, at right Merry & Davies and further on the right is the Prince’s of Wales Theatre.
