Rare satirical cartoon after G Williams engraved by Henry Meyer and published by: S Knight, London 1815.
A couple during an intimate dance. The woman rests her head on her partner’s shoulder and looks up into his eyes. The man, reaching behind her and holding her breast, presses his leg against her thigh. He is wearing a frock coat, vest, cravat and knee breeches. She is wearing a diaphanous low-bosomed gown with a high waist line.
“What! the girl I adore by another embrac’d;
What! the balm of her lips shall another man taste;
What! touch’d in the twirl by another man’s knee;
What! panting, recline on another than me;
Sir she’s yours from the grape you have press’d the soft blue,
From the rose you have shaken the tremulous dew,
