Description:

Early C20th terrestial globe by George Philip & Son  set in a brass half meridian ring, mounted on an Ebonised wooden stand, with central baluster turned support. 

Kenya is shown; British East Africa becomes Kenya in 1920.
Central Australia was created out of Northern Territory in 1926

George Philip & Son
London geographical publisher, globe maker, and founder of the firm George Philip & Son. He started business in 1834 in Liverpool and from about 1848 he traded as “George Philip & Son” with his son and successor George Phillip II (1823-1902. Philip retired 1 July 1879 and the business was continued by his son and nephew.
