Description:

Decorative map of the Eastern Hemisphere with Mountains and their heights in the lower left corner and at lower right Rivers of the world. The recent explorations of Captain Charles Wilkes (United States Exploring Expedition) are shown in Antarctica. Wilkes sailed into the Antarctic Ocean on December 1839 and reported the discovery “of an Antarctic continent west of the Balleny Islands” of which it sighted the coast on January 25, 1840.

James Gall (1784-1872) & Robert Inglis (1820-1887)

Gall and his son inlaw Inglis were mapmakers, printers and publishers in Edinburgh and London. They produced a number of Atlases and pocket maps.
