Port Lincoln aerodrome at Little Swamp:
In early November, 1935 the inaugural Adelaide Airways passenger flight left Parafield for Port Lincoln. The first flight was piloted by H. O. Cook and chartered by Mr G. J. Ware, and brought Mr Ware’s two daughters and Mr W. R Pirie, an accountant in the Bank of Australasia.
Mount Gambier Aerodrome:
The original Mount Gambier aerodrome was established when Mr H.S. (Stan) May and Mr S.C. Davis purchased land directly opposite the present airport on the Riddoch Highway. An aerodrome was established and basic infrastructure provided with the aerodrome officially opened on 21 May 1930. Scheduled airline services to Adelaide and Melbourne began the same year. The aerodrome owners then purchased 82 hectares of land that was part of ‘Croyle Estate’ and then another 66 hectares of the same property on 2 June 1936. This site is where the airport is today.

Herbert Edward Cooper Robinson (1857 - 1933)
Robinson was a founder of the (Royal) Geographical Society of Australasia in 1885, a member of the Geographical Society of New South Wales in the late 1920s and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society of London. He made many valuable contributions to geographical science and was a delegate to the 1923 Sydney Regional Plan Convention. A friend and technical collaborator of Professor Sir Edgeworth David, he helped to produce David's monumental large-scale Geological Map of the Commonwealth of Australia in 1932. His draughtsmen also produced the maps for Donald Mackay's important aerial surveys of Australia from 1930. 1895 Wentworth Court-Robinson set up his own map-publishing business 1906 Phillip Street 1913 Permanent location at 221-223 George Street. 1917 H. E. C. Robinson Ltd was officially incorporated
