Rare, large scale Hydrographic chart of English, Crooked, Long and Sea Reaches, Magellan Strait with numerous coastal profiles.

First published 20th November, 1884, this edition with large corrections to, May 1906 and small corrections to 1908. Note this was from the new survey made in 1884.

The coastal profiles:

  1. Top: Long Reach, from Corner Inlet.
  2. RHS: Mark for Clearing Anson Rock.
  3. Lower left: Desolation Island

 

Admiral Sir William James Lloyd Wharton (1843 - 1905)

Admiral Wharton was a British admiral and was promoted to captain in 1880 and on 1 August 1884 he was appointed to the Hydrographer to the Navy a post he held for the next twenty years. in 1895 he was promoted to rear-admiral.
