Famous poster map of Melbourne with numerous humorous speech balloons and notes. Decorated with a border of gum leaves and gum nuts inset with eight images with caption titles: Tree climbing; Capt. Lonsdales’ Cottage; Warriors; Fishing; Native burial; First police station; Hunting opossum; Hunting birds.

At lower left is a yellow banner with; “Centenary Year. Melbourne autographs. Has a population exceeding 1,000,000 and covers an area approximately 10 miles square. The city itself is noted for its ordered planning, wide streets and beautiful gardens. It has much to show the visitor“. In the centre of the map is a panel in the form of an open book, with left page reads : ‘Centenary Year.
