Gross was the founder of Geographia, the map publishing company in Fleet Street, London. Gross was a native of Hungary. He move the United States in 1922 and by the early 1940s, Geographia entered a period of rapid growth, publishing numerous world maps, atlases, street guide books (“Red Books”), travel guides (“Famous Guides”), wall maps, and street atlases covering dozens of cities in the United States and Canada.
