Georges-Louis Le Rouge (c. 1712 - 1790)

German born surveyor, military engineer, and prolific French map publisher and engraver, famous for his extensive cartographic works, including maps of North America and collaborations with figures like Benjamin Franklin, bridging German engineering with French publishing. Born Georg Ludwig in Hanover, he trained as an engineer, then moved to Paris around 1740 to become a major figure in cartography, producing atlases and maps, and even becoming Geographical Engineer for King Louis XV.
