Cook made an enormous contribution to the overall knowledge of world cartography having discovered and charted; the east coast of Australia, New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, explored the southern waters and disproved the existence of a navigable Northwest Passage. Roberts’s chart was the most up-to-date world map for its time.
