Description:
Rare, c.19th hand coloured engraved view of Almond Tower, Glen Turret, which was first recorded by Thomas Mitchell on his fourth expedition.
Mitchell:
On the 11th July he discovered and named the Claude, after another famous artist, and on that river next morning the thermometer showed 21 degrees of frost at only 1,107 feet above the sea ! Thence he travelled north, crossed and named Balmy Creek, a tributary of the Nogoa, past the wonderful Tower Almond and Glen Turret.
