George Frederick Sargent (1811 - 1864)
Sargent was an artist and illustrator of topographical pictures. He worked for the Pictorial Times, Illustrated London News and the London Journal. He arrived in Australia in 1854. The Mitchell Library, NSW, holds several of his pen-and-ink views of Melbourne and Sydney done in the 1850's, some of which were engraved by G. Greatbach in Scotland.
