Description:
Rare engraving of Frankfield, Francis Rawdon Hume’s property, near Gunning.
The Frankfield property was an early holding of John and Francis Hume c.1823. It
was eventually granted to Francis Hume in 1836 as a reward for his capture of the
bushranger Patrick Bourke. Francis subsequently moved to Castlestead at Boorowa
in 1848, with the Frankfield home and group of impressive late Victorian buildings
eventually constructed under the direction of Francis’ son, Francis Rawdon
Hume, c.1870.
