In place of the dedication, the panel in the middle now contains the explanatory text on the origin of the map but omitting the references to Reland. A rare and one of the most desirable maps of Japan.

Matthaus Seutter (1678-1756) Mapmaker, engraver and publisher of Augsburg. A pupil of Homann he set up on his account in 1707 & appointed Geographer to the Imperial Court.
