Australia is prominently named Ulimaroa, a name derived from James Cook’s accounts of his first voyage published by John Hawkesworth in 1773. The name Ulimaroa was first used on maps in 1776 by Daniel Djurberg and then by a number of other European mapmakers on their subsequent charts. Place names on the east coast of Australia are according to Cook as are those of New Zealand. The Hawiian Islands are named (Sandwich Inseln).
