Scarce map solely focusing on Nauru or as it was previously known, ‘Pleasant Island’, with a colour key at lower left.

Nauru is located 3,000 kms to the northeast of Cape York. In 1798, the British sea captain John Fearn, on his trading ship Hunter, became the first Westerner to report sighting Nauru, calling it “Pleasant Island“, because of its attractive appearance.
