Description:
Scarce, c.19th hand coloured engraved view of Mount Kosciusko, Australia’s tallest mountain.
It was identified and named in March 1840, by Polish explorer and scientist Paweł Edmund de Strzelecki. He named it after the Polish patriot Tadeusz Kosciuszko because the peak’s shape reminded him of the Kosciuszko Mound in Krakow.
