This map was based on Louis Freycinet’s map of Australia and one of southern Australia both published in the accounts of Nicholas Baudin’s voyage in 1802-1803.

Pierre Lapie (1779 - 1850)

First Geographer to the King of France, Chief of the Topographic section of the War Office, military cartographer & publisher. Lapie was active in all these fields in Paris from the 1820’s. This map is from his Atlas Universal which he issued with Alexandre Emile.
