Description:

Very rare c.19th plan of the Sydney Botanical Gardens drawn and issued by the Department of Lands, Sydney, N.S.W., 19th January 1897, with an extensive key of the location of trees, shrubs, Fountains etc. The map includes a small added two line strip of paper stating; “About 6 acres have been added to the Garden here from the Inner Domain, and the area is in process of being laid out.

There are a handful of other c.19th-c.20th maps of the Sydney Botanical Gardens held in the National Library of Australia and the State Library of New South Wales but no editions of this map.
