From: Pinkerton, J. Modern Atlas, (the maps from this atlas are often incorrectly dated as they often show a publication date of 1813 but were in fact first issued in 1815.

John Pinkerton (1758 - 1826)

Edinburgh cartographer who alongside John Thompson pioneered scientific principals in mapmaking in Scotland in the early C19th. Their maps were accurate and were intentionally not embellished. Pinkerton's main work was the Pinkerton's Modern Atlas.
