Rare detailed c.19th hand coloured engraving of Port Macdonnell, South Australia.
The area was first sighted by Lieutenant James Grant, in HMS Lady Nelson on 3 December 1800. In 1860 the area was declared a port and surveyed. It was named after Sir Richard Graves MacDonnell, Governor of South Australia from 1855 to 1862. It became one of South Australia’s busiest ports.
