Rare colonial bushranging image of John Dunn 1846? born at Murrumburrah near Yass, New South Wales. He associated with Ben Hall and John Gilbert. On 26 January 1865, Hall, Gilbert and Dunn were at Collector, near Lake George. Dunn shot the local police officer, Constable Samuel Nelson, while Hall and Gilbert held up the hotel. He was captured on 26 December 1865. He hid in a trap door under the Melbourne jail. He is buried in the old Devonshire Street cemetery in Sydney.

Biography:
Samuel Calvert (1828-1913)
English painter and engraver who moved to Adelaide after his older brothers John and William migrated to South Australia in 1843. By 1850 Calvert had set up on his own account in King William Street then then moved to Melbourne as an engraver in 1853. He wa prolific and left a large body of work.
