Description:
Scarce c.19th hand coloured engraving of the grand residence of William Bailey at Drummond Street, Ballarat now part of the St John of God hospital in Ballarat.
William Bailey was a well known mining investor and station owner. The mansion was designed by architects Caselli and Figgis. He and his wife Emily, had eight children between 1861 and 1876, so the mansion, described as “one of the most palatial homes in Ballarat” was extended further and had an extra wing added in the same style.
