The Athenaeum was a significant c.19th institution in Invercargill, New Zealand, established with land gifted by the government, designed by architect Angus Kerr, and completed in 1876, housing a library, reading rooms, and various collections, including artefacts from Andrew McKenzie, later becoming part of the Southland Museum’s legacy.
