King’s family emigrated from Dorset in 1857. He was apprenticed to J.Hubert and set up on his own in 1880. By 1890 his reputation had spread to all the colonies, his main source of income being portrait photography. King travelled extensively recording the towns, aborigines and colonial life. He received various major prizes in international exhibitions. His photographs are now highly regarded for both their historic & artistic worth. Original albumen paper print.
