Carte-de-visite ( 1854 - 1900) (1854 - 1900)
Were small cards, the size of a formal visiting card about 114mm x 63mm, with an albumen paper print photograph attached. They were invented in 1854 by A.A.E. Disderi. The backs of the cards were normally printed with the photographer's name, address and insignia.

George Kitch (1843 - 1914)
George Kitch (1843-1914) the first successful photographer in Katoomba. He was an alderman of the Katoomba Municipal Council (1900-1914) and during the year when he was Mayor (1905-1906). He opened a photography business called The Eclipse Photo Company in Katoomba in 1889 which operated under the name ‘Kitch & Co’.
