Henry King established his studio at 316 George Street in 1880 and remained at this location until 1894.
Henry King (1855 - 1923)
King’s family emigrated from Dorset in 1857. Apprenticed to J. Hubert, King set up a studio in 1880. By 1890 his reputation had spread to all the colonies, his main source of income being portrait photography. King travelled extensively recording country towns, aborigines and colonial life. King was a successful and well known photographer. He received various major prizes in international exhibitions. His photographs are now highly regarded for both their historic and artistic worth.
