Australian Federation Stereo card of the Druids Float, an elaborate horse-drawn float with women in Neo-Classical dress seated on it passing under a painted banner in Collins Street, by George Rose, recording the visit of The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York to Melbourne in May 1901, for the Federation celebrations.
Biography:
George Rose (1861-1942)
Rose was a Melbourne photographer who started his photographic career around 1880 producing stereoscopic or 3-D images when viewed through a special viewer. He called his business ‘The Rose Stereograph Company’ and he toured the world with his 3-D camera, producing stereographs for the home and overseas markets.
