Johnston founded the firm of A & K Johnston starting as a printer in 1825. He first published a ‘National Atlas’ and a ‘Royal Atlas’
which included much new information especially in the newly settled
colonies in the Southern Hemisphere. Recent discoveries inland in many
colonies were now noted for the first time.
