Description:
Detailed small map of Australia with little inland exploration shown other than the course of Darling River, shown as a dotted line coloured in red. In 1828 Charles Sturt was sent by Governor Sir Ralph Darling, to investigate the course of the Macquarie River, discovering the Bogan River and in early 1829, the upper Darling, which he named after the Governor. In 1835, Major Thomas Mitchell travelled a 483 kilometre portion of the river.
