Description:
Beautiful map of South East Asia, extending from India, China and part of New Guinea, with an elaborate Rococo style frame border.
There is another version of this map* (see below for reference purposes only) which has two panels of extensive text added either side, making that map much larger but the actual mapping is the same size. This version is the scarer of the two issues.
*(This version with text is only for illustrative purposes and is not included.)

Mapmaker:
Louis Brion De La Tour (fl 1756-1803)
Beyond the fact that Brion was an engineer by profession and held the post of Ingenieur-Geographe du Roi, little is known of his career. He published a wide range of statistical works and a number of atlases, published by the well known French mapmaker Louis Charles Desnos (1725-1805).
