Description:
Detailed map of the large-scale survey of the Kimberley district from May to June 1883 by John Forrest, surveyor-general and commissioner of Crown lands. Starting from the northern side of King Sound, Forrest headed to Round Hill and then south to the Meda River. The expedition proceeded east to the Lennard Ranges, south west to Mount Wynne and reached Yeeda Station on 30th May. From there they headed to La Grange Bay. Forrest subsequent reports on the well watered pastoral country he found, added to the speculative boom in the establishment of large grazing properties in the Kimberleys.
