Description:
Seutter’s c.18th hand coloured map of the city of Jerusalem, based on the c.16th work of Christian van Adrichom. The plan is accompanied by a key that identifies 254 significant points of interest within the Holy City.
Van Adrichom’s original map was first published in 1584 in Cologne as part of his Theatrum Terrae Sanctae, which also included a booklet detailing the history and topography of Jerusalem. This plan was later incorporated into subsequent editions of the Theatrum.
