Description:

Rare colonial lithograph showing various nations carrying out exhibits from the The Garden Palace Exhibition Building .

The Garden Palace was designed by James Barnet, built in only eight months from iron and timber with the use of electric lights to allow three shifts to work per day. It was a great success with over 1,022,000 visitors through it’s gates. On 22 September 1882 the building was totally destroyed in a six hour fire.
