Jones Quain & Erasumus Wilson
Jones Quain 1796-1865 was
an Irish born anatomist who became professor of Anatomy and Physiology at the
University of London. Erasmus Wilson, a Scotish born Surgeon. Wilson was one of
the first students at the Aldersgate School of Medicine, and won prizes for
surgery and midwifery in the session 1829-1830. In 1831 he was asked by Jones
Quain to become his Assistant. He accepted the post and was soon afterwards appointed
Demonstrator of Anatomy. Important anatomical series pre-dating Gray’s Anatomy.

Quain was an Irish-born anatomist who became professor of Anatomy and Physiology at the University of London. Erasmus Wilson was a Scottish-born surgeon. Wilson was one of the first students at the Aldersgate School of Medicine, and won prizes for surgery and midwifery in the session 1829-1830. In 1831 he was asked by Quain to become his assistant. Wilson accepted the post and was soon afterwards appointed Demonstrator of Anatomy.
