This is one of the signatures used by Kunisada from 1844 until he produced many images using colours and styles that were extremely popular with the general public and moving away from the more mellow styles. In woodblock printing the artist, publisher, woodcutter and printer collaborated in the making of a print. Ultimately only the artists signature and the publishers seal were placed on the woodblock . Original colour woodblock.
