Biography:
May Gibbs (1877-1969)
May Gibbs arrived in Australia at the age of 4 and was educated at the Church of England Grammar School, Perth, and later studied at art and technical schools in England. Her first book on Australian bush fairies came out in 1916. Her deep love for the Australian bush was portrayed throughout her career in her animated illustrations.
