Description:
Superb map by the most famous of all Dutch period mapmakers, Willem Blaeu. Contains two maps on one sheet the smaller map on the right shows the Allier River and tributaries in south-central France and the larger depicts the traditional province of Limousin, centred on the city of Limoges, famous for its ceramics and porcelain industry. The region is known for its orchards of French Oak. The oak, of which barrels are made to store wine during the fermentation process is considered far superior to common oak for its finer grain and richer contribution of aromatic components like vanillin.
