Description:
Amongst the rarest and most important of all South Australian colonial lithographs. View of Yankalilla, made from a watercolour painted by the ‘founder’ of Adelaide, Colonel William Light and sent to London. Light made three lithographs of a similar size and these were available for sale at the South Australian Agents office’s, 3 Austin Friars, London and in Adelaide at the office’s of Light, Finnis & Co. The rarity of Light’s lithographs is probably due to the limited availability and exposure of them to the public via businesses engaged in property transactions and surveying, rather than the more traditional methods via art and booksellers.
