Description:

Irish issued of John Cawse’s caricature by Le Petit of 20 Capel Street, Dublin (1800-1820).

Four stout, elderly, and ugly parsons (left) sit close together drinking out of doors at a small round table; one is smoking. Close by is a rough paling behind which, among bushes, are two devils, one fires a gun at the group, the other inspects his weapon. A dog barks at them. The parsons register alarm, but have not seen the devils. 25 March 1800

Hand-coloured etching originally published by: John Cawse, published by: S W Fores
